Art All Night Website
Three years ago, I joined the web team for Art All Night. This year, we finally had the resources to build an entirely new site, and I led the design and development for the first time. Our primary goal was to overhaul the site while maintaining compatibility with past versions, including custom signup pages coded in PHP for WordPress. Using the Divi theme from Elegant Themes and its built-in theme builder, I built the site from the ground up. The entire process, from planning to execution, took about two months.
One of the key features is that event-specific pages are disabled between seasons, but non-coders can now edit existing content or create new content with minimal assistance from me. This greatly improved the site’s usability and accessibility for our team. The new site was well-received by both the public and our internal volunteer teams. Information is now easier to find, and posting updates is faster than in previous years. We received numerous compliments from volunteer committee members, visitors, and artists, who noted the professional design and improved ADA compliance.
A significant achievement of this project is its future-proof design. The site won’t require a complete overhaul in the coming years. Instead, new themes can update the content with minimal development, needing only minor changes to colors and fonts to align with each year’s branding standards. Overall, the new Art All Night website represents a significant improvement in usability, accessibility, and design, setting a solid foundation for future updates and enhancements.
